ハーラン・エリスンの作品がなかなか読めない。
「世界の中心で愛を叫んだ獣」は出ているが、重要＆傑作が含まれていない。

３作品とも講談社文庫(KodanSha bunko)から「世界SF大賞傑作選」（ Ed:Isaac Asimov The Hugo Winners Volume）に翻訳はあるが絶版。（シリーズ自体が第８巻で頓挫しているから仕方無いのか）
（講談社のこのシリーズはアシモフが編集しているがコメントが絶妙で抱腹絶倒なのでこの文庫で読むのがベスト）
３つとも彼独特の悪夢的な文体で読者をわしづかみにして離さず、ラストまで一気に読ませる傑作。

その彼のドキュメンタリー映画「DREAMS WITH SHARP TEETH」が2008年6月に米で公開されているのを初めて知った。

作品と著者のスタイル（文体＆性格）でこれだけ両者が”一致”している例はエリスン以外には、すぐには思いつかない。
しかし相変わらず”元気”というより”老いて益々舌鋒盛ん”だ。

内容から逸れるがエリスンも脚本を書いている「スタートレック」絡みでこんな記事を読んだ。

Actor William Shatner theorizes that former Star Trek bridge mate George Takei is suffering from some kind of psychosis, as evidenced by a recent high-profile snub.
Takei, who played Sulu in the original Trek series four decades ago, famously did not invite Shatner to his recent wedding ceremony. Takei married his longtime partner Brad Altman last month.
"The whole thing makes me feel badly," Shatner says in a video blog post titled "Shatner on Sulu Wedding Snub" (embedded), in which the man who played Captain Kirk takes on a new role -- pop psychologist.
"Poor man," Shatner continues. "There's such a sickness there. It's so patently obvious that there is a psychosis there. I don't know what his original thing about me was. I have no idea."
Shatner, who's gone from the key role in the classic sci-fi series to playing pitchman for Priceline.com, has been posting somewhat loopy homemade videos on his YouTube channel to talk about everything from his exclusion from J.J. Abrams' upcoming Trek movie to his recent appearance on Saturday Night Live.
In the latest video, posted Tuesday, Shatner says Takei has spoken badly about him over the years, and addresses the actor's decision to come out of the closet late in life after hiding his homosexuality for decades.
"Talk about festering and not living the truth of your life and feeling badly about yourself and being fearful that somebody'll find out this terrible, terrible secret, so he thought," Shatner says.
"Like, who cares? Be gay, don't be gay -- that's up to you, George."
Shatner says he remains mystified about the actor's bad feelings toward him (like this video is gonna help).
"It's sad that the man can't find enough peace in his life to either, say, be positive and say, 'I forgive him for whatever those hurts were,' or to shut up about it," Shatner says. "It's sad. I feel nothing but pity for him."

随分だなと思う。シャトナーが嫌い（元々好きなタイプでもないが）になった。
同じ喧嘩でも、整然とした論理で相手を完膚無きまでに叩きのめすエリスンに比べてシャトナーは偏見に満ちていると思うし、いい年をしてこんな些事を大袈裟に、しかもひどく差別的なことを言うのはどうなんだろう？

でもこれが、一般的なストレートのゲイに対する本音に近いのかもしれない。
